I have never owned a “fast” car. I wish I had something with a big, rumbly V8 engine and the ability to perform raucous burnouts and run the 1/4 mile in less time than a geological epoch, and thanks to the power of Logic I can do this.
Buick LeSabre: 205hp
Honda Civic: 107hp
Mazda Miata: 120hp
All together that gives me 432hp. Not bad, not bad at all, and actually places me just ahead of a 2013-2014 Ford Mustang GT, which makes 420hp out of its 5.0 V8.
So let’s hear it Oppo, how much horsepower have you owned over the years? Can you even remember it all?

Toro Lawnmower: 2-3 hp (I think. It had a bent crank, so you couldn’t run it flat out—I’ll go with 2)
Weedeater weedeater: No idea. Maybe 1/4? 1/2?
1989 Sears Lawn Tractor: Supposedly 8 1/2hp
Chevy Colorado: 300
Total 311hp

15+35+200+90+190+150+220+130+2+58+135+197+200 = 1622
Probably missed some (excluded a lot of motorcycles since I'd only have them for <3 months usually and I forget their details) and some were guesses. Most powerful was a Mazda 6 wagon....

I’m like you, never had anything with a load of HP, have had far to many cars to try and add up my totals as well.
My DS4 has 200hp and that's the most powerful I've had, prior to that my 04 Celica T-Sport had 190 but the car which I've owned that makes the most of it's output is my Abarth 500, with it's Essesse map on it has about 155bhp, but it sure makes every last one of them count everyday!

Everything that I’ve owned and that actually drove, as opposed to current project cars and loaners/family cars, 52hp+70hp+143 =265. That’s 88hp per car. The average will go up steeply once the projects are running.

Let’s see...
1976 Triumph 2500TC: 106 hp
1984 Rover SD1 3500: 153 hp
1993 Citroën Xantia 2.0SX: 128 hp
1985 VW Scirocco 8v: 94 hp
1996 VW Cabrio 2.slow: 114 hp
1956 MGA Roadster: 78 hp
2011 VW Golf 2.5: 170 hp
1996 Volvo 850R: 240 hp
Adds up to 1083 hp. Of those, we still own everything from the Scirocco onward (though the Cabrio is off the road and will probably be scrapped one of these days), leaving 696 hp currently in my hands.
Of course, I’d take a few of those numbers with a grain of salt. The Cabrio in particular is one of the most thoroughly worn-out cars I’ve ever driven, and going by how it drives, I suspect that a few of those horsepowers have run off by now. The MG is a bit of a mongrel – the engine block is a later 1600 lump, but I have no idea if the carbs and other bits came along with it, or are still the ones from the asthmatic 1500 that it would have come with. Plus, the power output quoted for it is SAE gross, which has nearly no basis in reality anyway.

1984 Dodge Colt 1.6 carbureted Mitsu, with 4G architecture! 64 HP
1991 Mazda Protege 140HP. Felt like 140. What a great engine.
1996 Ford Ranger, 3.0 V6, 150 HP. Felt like 80. Oy vey.
1995 Camaro Z28, 275 stock, about 320 with mods.
1968 Camaro RS/SS, stock 350 horse 396cid engine.
1984 Honda VF750F Interceptor, 86 horsepower
2002 Suzuki GSX-R 600, 102 horsepower
2001 BMW 330i, 228 horsepower
2001 Chevy Tahoe, 5.3, 285 HP
2010 Nissan Sentra, 140 HP, feels like its always driving through pudding.
1973 Volkswagen Type 181 “Thing”, rebuilt 1600 cc engine, butt dyno says 70 HP.
1,935 horsepower.

2 Ford Expeditions (365hp and 310hp)
My current DD, 2012 335ix 300hp
So 975hp for me.
My father though roundhouse kicks that in the face harder than Chuck Norris. Just from what I remember
2 BMW M6 GC (600hp and 550hp)
2 BMW 550i (400hp + 360hp)
BMW 545i (325hp)
BMW 540i (282hp + 282hp)
Lincoln Mark VII LSC (225hp)
A myriad of Ford Expeditions about 5 (1000hp estimated)
Lincoln Navigator 300hp
2 Chevy Blazers (one we didn’t have for long, it had absolutely no get up and go 190hp + 190 hp)
Then we get to before I was on this Earth which allowed him to tinker on his Camaros, I know he had a 1978 and at least one other one but both were modified with engine modifications or swaps. I can’t put an estimate on those so I’ll just put a caveat that the final number is even higher.
So as far as I can accurate calculate he has had 4704hp which I would say is quite a healthy number.

I’ve only had four cars, and am too lazy to google the hp of the first two (100+ and about 100)...
Then I went from 300 hp (audi a8) to 70 hp (smart car)!
And actually I’m cool with it. I use the smart more, pedal to the metal almost all the time...

I’ve owned quite a few cars in my life. Thanks to Wikipedia, I can give you a fairly decent answer.
1986 Honda Accord 98HP
1983 Cutlass 110HP
1985 Honda CRX 58HP
1986 Honda Accord 98HP
1985 Honda Prelude 105HP
1979 Chevy Camaro 145HP
1989 Chevy Beretta 125HP
1986 Accord Hatchback 110HP
1994 Saturn SL 85HP
1988 Lincoln Town Car 150HP
1990 Chevy Corsica 125HP
1992 Chevy Corsica 140HP
1981 Chevy Camaro 110HP
1983 Mitsu Tredia 68HP
1988 Chevy S10 160HP
1991 BMW 318i 130HP
1994 Ford Probe 118HP
1994 Chevy Caprice 9C1 265HP
2010 Nissan Cube 122HP
2011 Mazda 3 167 HP
2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek 148HP
2015 Honda Civic 143HP
Total is 2,780 HP. My High HP was 265, my low is 58. Oddly enough, in proof that HP isn't everything, of everything I've owned, the CRX was probably the most fun to drive of the bunch, and it had the least HP.

This reminds me of a Peter Egan column from years ago where you totalled all the horsepower you currently owned and included anything with an engine - cars, trucks, lawnmowers, etc.
But if we are going cars owned past and present:
1992 Hyundai Excel - 81 hp (damn, that was pitiful)
1993 Lexus ES300 - 185 hp
1991 Mazda RX-7 - 160 hp
1991 Mazda RX-7 Turbo - 200 hp
1999 Mercury Sable - 200 hp
2015 Mazda 6 - 184 hp
TOTAL - 1010 hp

Well I was considering modifying it but then I decided it was actually perfect as a daily or road trip car, the most I will do to it is maybe put some BMW 359 style wheels and some new tires. When I move into my own place I plan to build a weekend car that I can toy with without having to worry about it also being a DD. For some reason an FR-S or a FB RX7 with a coyote swap keeps popping up into my head.

190hp x2, XJ & ZJ
250hp SC400
215hp Crossfire
845hp combined, not too bad. Kind of funny though that I either want to add 155hp or 430hp to that though.

To be fair, I’m 39 so I’ve got a head start on most of you. 25 cars over 23 years is pretty solid, but I’m sure someone can beat this!
